The line dances & more are being taught in a variety of spots within the Geator listening area. Scroll down to see suggestions from our readers. As of this writing Jerry hasn't done any written instructions or DVDs on the old dances or line dances.  He's been approached in the past about doing a TV dance show similar to the ones he did in the '60s, '70s, and early '90s, featuring line dances and the jitterbug, possibly filming on Friday nights at Memories in Margate.  He also has been asked by PBS to do a show and a DVD.  All this is on the back burner right now because of his very busy schedule.

Inside the original "TV Song Storybook" [vinyl] album there is a pictorial history of the TV show and a chart teaching the dance steps of the Wagner Walk. That album is now on CD but without the pictures, and the original album is difficult to get but not impossible. Try eBay on line or call Val Shively at R&B Records, 610/352-2320, or Bobby at Pat’s Music, 215/708-0444.

Join the Geator Fans group and we will keep you posted:

or send an email to [email protected]

If we ever learn of or create a DVD or booklet of dance instructions, it will be announced in that group.

SUGGESTIONS FROM OUR READERS - call for current times & cost, if any:

There's always lots of line dancing at Geator's get-togethers, especially during the summer - check his schedule for where and when.  The dancers will be happy to show you the steps

Thank you so mu

- Ann says: “There's a group of us who dance at the VFW in Pennsville, NJ, 5 minutes from the Delaware Memorial Bridge. We have a lot of fun dancing & learning! We do dancing to all Jerry's music...the line dances we've been doing for 40 years and the dances that just got made up last week.  Please e-mail me for more info: [email protected]

In the summer of 2009 you could get line dancing instruction at Bubba Mac's happy hours at the Atlantic City Country Club on Thursdays.  Don't know if this is still going on, but you can contact the A.C.C.C. for more info: www.accountryclub.com or 609/236-4465.

- Here's a tip for the guys:  “Yo, my man!  Learn them the same way I did!  Get in line behind a beautiful chick.  Shadow every move her feet make!  By the time the song has ended, you've got the basic floor plan & maybe a new ‘amazon friend’!  Worked for me!"  -  Chez Vous Bobby, Class of 1965, College of Coyote Knowledge”

And Jerry himself says:

“One of the best ways to learn the line dances is from my DVDs. Most of the dances on the DVD series are from my two shows in the early '90s, Backstage with Blavat and On the Air with the Geator, which were filmed at various spots around the Philly area.  The DVD Volume 6, The Lost Episodes  also contains some rare footage of shows from the very beginning of my TV career in the '60s showing the dancers on the Discophonic Scene. No formal instructions, but you see their legs and learn by watching & copying.”

He also said:

The place to learn the Jitterbug - Bandstand style - and all those wonderful Philly line dances that were created at Wagner's and the Chez Vous ballroom is at Memories in Margate, especially on a Friday night, or at our weekly happy hours at the casinos [check CALENDAR for where/when].  The Jitterbug is really much easier to do than a line dance, where you have to master the steps.  With the Jitterbug you develop your own rhythm with your partner one on one.  If you join me at any one of our get-togethers, you'll see the Geator Gold guys and gals doing the Jitterbug, and I'm sure any one of them will teach you some of the moves.  Or just watch.  That's how I learned when I was a kid, by watching others do it, and then I developed my own particular style.”
